Meet Jane
I have had more careers than most people have had jobs. I have loved nearly all of them.
I started in television in 1978 at Good Morning America. I produced through 1999, with credits including Entertainment Tonight and WSJ-TV, and films including “Leona Helmsley: The Queen of Mean” and “Sioux City.”
Then I became an entrepreneur. In 2017 I founded Bedside Reading®, and we changed what the luxury hotel experience feels like by placing curated books at the bedsides of guests in some of the world’s most prestigious properties. I expanded the program to audiobooks, eBooks, and digital content.
My own book, From “Wanting” to Having It!, became a #1 Amazon bestseller in its category.
I have spent nine years cracking the code on what actually makes a book and an author discoverable.

What is AuthorScore?
AuthorScore™ is a 0–100 score, created by Bedside Reading®, that measures how visible and recommendable an author is to AI engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Grok. It looks at the full constellation of signals around an author: book, website, media, reviews, methodology, credentials, and recency, not just the book itself.
How does AuthorScore work?
Authors complete a short three-minute form about their topic, book, website, media, speaking, methodology, and recent activity. AuthorScore™ analyzes those signals across five weighted dimensions: Topic Clarity, Discoverability, Earned Media, Authority, and Freshness. It returns a 0–100 score, a tier (Elite, Distinguished, Established, or Emerging), and a clear path forward.
Which AI engines does AuthorScore check?
AuthorScore™ is built to measure visibility and recommendability in the AI engines that authors now compete inside: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Grok. As new AI answer engines emerge, the same underlying signal model applies. The score reflects how an author shows up when those engines decide who the expert is.
